Welcome to your interactive website El Dorado Neighborhood News!

El Dorado Park Estates is a mile square area with 1,367 homes and some 28 different floor plans. This great area extends from the 605 Freeway to the west to Norwalk Blvd. (the City and County border) to the east, Spring St. to the South and the City of Long Beach border to the north.

This was the first large neighborhood built by S&S Construction Company. The first home was occupied on March 1, 1963 and the final home was finished and occupied on April 17, 1974. Soon after this neighborhood was completed the company went on the New York Stock Exchange. Today their name is Shapell Industries.

El Dorado Park Estates is the home of award winning school, the Douglas A. Newcomb Academy, which opened to 300 students in September 1963. It was built originally with a kindergarten through 8th grade program and is that way today. The Academic Performance Index (the number to which all state elementary schools aspire) for this school has been in the 800 to 900 range for the past few years.

The area is next to an 805 acre park, the El Dorado Park, and many of our neighbors walk or bike there daily. This park is also the home of a great library, a senior center, a nature center, and an animal shelter. It provides a great area for our children to play.

El Dorado Park Estates - a great place to live, with a great school, a great location, close to everything and a family friendly neighborhood.

Sincerely,
Jamie & Shirley
